Étui for filament swatches

ATTENTION: if you downloaded models before May 17th 2020, please download again new version of Etui_v2.stl. Finally, for the swatches I have finished  design for an étui, (may be better to say a frame, but I like the word étui) to hold the filament swatches together. The first version had thinner walls and was very fragile. I ended up with 5 mm. It holds 10 swatches and there is again,  a place for a label of size 38.1 mm x 21.2mm....

Filament Swatch (with a place for a note sticker)

I have a collection of filament samples collected at multiple events from number of filament producers . I was looking for a suitable sample swatch model on internet. Despite that I was trying to resist and not to spend my time to model what already hundreds of people made again, I ended up with a new contribution. I didn’t find a model where I can easily notice some basic information about the filament. Basic size of the swatch is 40...

Subface – Part 1.

I (also) got an idea to use 3D printed connectors to create irregular structures. With irregular I mean objects without right angels. Good example are the well-known low-polygon models. I was thinking about a system which takes a low-poly model as an input and generates data for 3D printer, laser cutter and all other data to produce components which are used to assembly a structure.  Any size, any material. Digital fabrication in practice. It might be quite useful. What do you think? I...

Y-BOX55 Assembly – Part 4.

Material: 8 prepared joints 12 aluminium tubes preassembled edge-covers Tools: Allen key or screwdriver with 2.5 mm Allen key bit Notice the orientation of the corner joints. The axis with supports always points up for lower side or down for upper side - parallel to Z-axis.  Also, notice how joints are oriented regarding front face and side faces. The z-axis clasp slits are facing right and left. Any wrong orientation doesn't have any functional impact. The enclosure just looks better if joints are symmetrically aligned and are oriented with a "pretty face" to...
